Egypt Address Format Breakdown

Recipient Name

The recipient’s full name must be written on the first line when addressing mail to Egypt. You can also add honorific titles such as El Sayed for Mr. Mohammed or El Sayeda for Fatima Hassan optionally. For business addresses, write the company name first, followed by the recipient’s name or department. Add ATTN. in front of the recipient’s name to ensure the mail reaches the right desk.

Example

AHMED MOHAMED

or

CAIRO EXPORTS LTD

ATTN: AHMED MOHAMED

Street Address

Write the street name and house/building number for residential or business addresses. For Post Office Boxes, write “P.O. Box” followed by the box number.

Example

12 AL TAHRIR STREET, APARTMENT 4A

Or

P.O. Box 123

Governate or District (if Applicable)

Egypt’s cities are often divided into Governates or districts. Including this detail can help narrow down the location, especially in densely populated areas like Cairo.

Example:

ZAMALEK

City or Town

Write the city or town name where the recipient lives. Only use UPPERCASE letters for clarity. Popular cities in Egypt include Cairo (the capital), Alexandria, and Giza.

Postal Code

Egypt uses a five-digit postal code system. These codes are known as “Raqam Baridi”,  vital for accurate mail delivery. Egyptian postal codes vary by city and district.

Example:

11511 Cairo

or

21523 Alexandria

Country Name

Every international mailer must have “EGYPT” written in uppercase on the last line.
Write the name of the country in the last line. If you are sending an international mail, write the country name in capital letters.

Example

EGYPT

Special Considerations to Write an Egyptian Address

  • Address Placement: Write the postal address in the center of the envelope.
  • Address Line Alignment: The alignment of the address lines must be centered.
  • Coding Method: Egypt uses 7-digit postal codes. The first two digits represent the province, the third number includes the locality, the next two digits highlight the neighborhood, and the last two numbers tell about the community.
  • Punctuation: Egyptian addresses are typically straightforward and do not rely on excessive punctuation. For example, commas between address elements are not mandatory but can be used for clarity.
  • Language: The official language in Egypt is Arabic, and most addresses are written in Arabic for domestic mail. However, for business correspondence or international mail, English is commonly used. Always confirm the preferred language with the recipient if possible.
  • Rural Addressing: Rural areas may not have detailed street addresses. In such cases, include the name of the village and the nearest town or city, along with landmarks and postal codes.

Our Customers Say It Best

We have been using PostGrid for a few months. It works with our CRM, the software interface, efficiency, automation, and integration with no issues. Their support team is quick with resolution and their web portal is easy to access and transparent in retrieving transactions and analyzing weekly & monthly sending limits.

Chief Technology Officer

This API has turned out to be a great asset. We started off with 4000 mailings for 3 months and never had any downtime. I requested an increase in the sending limits and it was given to me in 10 minutes! I also have used PostGrid to verify our mailing lists. It’s been great to us and customer support is very reliable.

Vice President Of Engineering

We wanted a low-cost, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-use direct mail platform. Finally, PostGrid took all my worries in terms of snail mail. The pricing is very reasonable! There is almost no delay in the SLA’s commitment, and it is exciting to watch automation in action. Easy to build and maintain the mailing lists of our patients. Not to forget, reports can be generated, and a block editor can be used too!

Director Of Operations

We were looking for a solution to outsource and automate our process of mailing welcome letters to our customers. Previously had 2 dedicated people printing the postage label, stamping it manually and stuffing the mail and dropping it off at the postal office. It was very inefficient and could have caused major compliance issues. PostGrid helped us eliminate the entire manual process with their automation and API solution, now sending all mails smoothly.

Director of IT and Operations

Very straightforward, fast, and reliable address standardization API. We collect address data from multiple patients, clinical records, and providers and attempt to combine them into one. Addresses are often redundant or formatted differently in this process, which is our biggest challenge. PostGrid makes it easy for us to solve both of these problems simply by appending PostGrid to our datasets.
