Vietnam Address Format With Examples
Vietnam is located in Southeast Asia on the Indochinese Peninsula. China borders it in the north, Laos, and Cambodia in the west, and the South China Sea in the east. The proximity to different nations is reflected in how the people of Vietnam communicate. This difference can be especially seen in how they write addresses when sending mail. Moreover, there are different types of addresses and each address has its specific element requirement. If you want to send mail to a client or customer in Vietnam but don’t know the correct address format, we will help you. We bring a list of different types of addresses, their format, and examples for each.
Vietnam Address Format Breakdown
Recipient Name
Start by writing the name of the recipient in the first line. You can add honorific titles like Mr. and Mrs. If you are sending the mail to a business, the company’s name will come in the first line. Write the name of the person and their department in the second and third lines respectively. If you want to ensure that the internal mail distribution system sends the mail to the right office and desk, add ATTN. in front of the person’s name.
Example:
MS. DANG AN
Or
SDA CO.
ATTN: MS. DANG AN
HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT
House Number and Street Address
In the second line, write the house/building number and then the street address for the residential and business addresses. Separate them with a comma. Street names in Vietnam should be written with the suffix “Street.” In case of a PO Box, write Hộp thư (Vietnamese for Post Office Box), and then the box number. You can also add other address elements like alley name, or lane number in this line.
Example:
NO. 45, DINH TIEN HOANG STREET
Ward and District Name
Write these two elements in the same order as mentioned above. Add the suffix “Ward” after the ward name and “Dist.” after the district name. Add a comma between these two address elements.
Example:
BEN NGHE WARD, AN PHÚ DIST.
City, and Postal Code
Write the two address elements in the order mentioned above. Some of the major cities in Vietnam are Hanoi, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Haiphong, and Hạ Long. The postal codes are called ZIP codes in Vietnam and they are five-digit numbers.
Example:
