Serbia Address Format With Examples
Serbia is located in the central Balkan region and southern Pannonian Plain. It lies at the crossroads of Central and South East Europe. It shares its border with multiple countries such as Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. This significantly impacts how people communicate with each other and it is reflected in how they write addresses in the mail. This can confuse the postal service providers and might lead to misdeliveries or failed deliveries. Moreover, there are different types of addresses, each with its specific element requirement. To give you clarity, we have listed down all the different types of address formats, with their examples.
Serbia Address Format Breakdown
Recipient Name
Start by writing the name of the recipient in the first line. You can add honorific titles like Ms., Mr., and Mrs. If you are sending the mail to a business, the company’s name will come in the first line. Write the name of the person and their department in the second and third lines respectively. If you want to ensure that the internal mail distribution system sends the mail to the right office and desk, add ATTN. in front of the person’s name.
Example:
ALICE MORTEZ
Or
DSA DOO
ATTN: ALICE MORTEZ
FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Street Address
In the second line, add the street name and house/building number for the residential and business addresses. You can also add additional information like the apartment number in the same line. In case of a PO Box, write PP (Poštanski Pretinac is Serbian for Post Office Box), and then the box number.
Example:
BULEVAR KRAJKA 34
Or
PP 35
Locality
Add the name of the locality or the neighborhood details.
Example:
BAJMOK
Post Office Number and City Name
Write both these address elements one after the other without any separating punctuation in the same line. Some of the major cities in Serbia are Belgrade, Nis, Novi Pazar, Cacak, and Novi Sad.
Example:
23141 BELGRADE
Postcode
They are called postal address codes (PAK) in Serbia and are six-digit numbers. When you write the postal code, add the term “PAK” in front of the postcode.
Example:
PAK 241356
Country Name
Write the name of the country in the last line. If you are sending international mail to Serbia, write the country name in capital letters.
Example:
SERBIA
Special Considerations to Write a Serbian Address
- Address Line Alignment: All the lines should be left aligned.
- Address Placement: Write the address on the bottom right-hand corner of the envelope.
- Address Without Street Name: In such cases, leave a blank line between the name of the addresses and the locality.
- Address Element Omission: In case you are sending a mail to PO Box, post restante, or military address, there is no need to write the postal address code.
Examples of Different Types of Serbian Address Format
Residential Address Format
Write the recipient’s name, street address, or PO box number, district name, postal code, city, and country name. Every address element will come in separate lines.
