Nigeria Address Format With Examples
Nigeria is located in West Africa, on the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It shares its border with Niger in the north, Chad in the northeast, Cameroon to the east, and Benin to the west. If you have a client or customer in Nigeria and you want to send them mail but don’t know the correct address format, we have got you covered. We know that aside from the regional differences in writing the address format, there are different types of addresses. Each address has its specific component requirements. To give you clarity, we bring you a list of all the different types of address formats along with examples for each.
Nigeria Address Format Breakdown
Recipient Name
In the first line, write the name of the recipient. You can add honorific titles like Mr. Ms. or Mrs. If you are sending the mail to a business, write the company’s name in the first line. In the second and the third lines, write the name of the person and their department respectively. You can add ATTN. in front of the name to ensure that the internal mail distribution system sends the mail to the right office and desk.
Example:
MUSA OKORO
Or
ABC LTD.
ATTN: MUSA OKORO
FINANCE DEPARTMENT
House Number and Street Address
In the second line, write the house/building number and then the street address for the residential and business addresses. In case the recipient uses a PO Box, write the term “PO Box”, and then the box number.
Example:
35 AFIN STREET
Or
PO BOX 34
Locality Name and Postcode
Add the locality or the neighborhood details and then the postcode in the same line. The postal codes in Nigeria are numeric and comprise six digits.

Country Name
The name of the country will come in the last line. If you are sending international mail to Nigeria, write the country name in capital letters.

- Address Line Alignment: All the lines should be left aligned.
- Address Placement: Write the address on the bottom right-hand side of the envelope.
- No Punctuation: The address components that share the same line will not have any commas between them.
