Write the recipient’s full name in the first line. You can also add an honorific title like Mr., Ms., or Mrs. before the name in the same line. In case, you are sending the mail to a business, write the company’s name in the first line. Write the name of the person in the second line and their department in the third line. You can also write ATTN. in front of the person’s name to ensure delivery at the right office and desk.

Street Address

Write the street name, followed by the apartment or building number for the residential and business address. In case the recipient uses a PO box, write the term “PO Box” followed by the box number.

City or Town and Postal Code

Write them in the order mentioned above. Some of the major cities in Latvia are Riga, Ogre, Jelgava, and Ventspils. The postal codes in Latvia are called pasta indekss and they are four-digit numbers. They have the mandatory ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code, LV, in front of them.

Country Name

Write the complete country name in the last line. If you are sending international mail to Latvia, ensure that the country name is in capital letters.

Residential Address

Write the recipient’s name, street address of the PO box, city/town, postal code, and country name. Each element will come in a separate line.

Rural Address

Typically, rural addresses do not have a formal state. In this case, write the village name in the second line. In the third line, write the name of the nearest larger town, followed by the city name, postal code, and country name.

Business Address

Write the name of the company in the first line, followed by the person’s name and their department in the second and third lines. The rest of the address elements will remain in the same place as the residential address.

International Address for NGOs And Organizations

Write the name of the organization in the first line, followed by the department in the second line. Place the rest of the address components in the same way as the residential address.

PO Box Address

Instead of the street address details in the second line, write the term “PO Box” and then the box number in the residential address.

Military Address

The format for military personnel stationed in Latvia is the same as the residential address, except for the first two lines. Write the rank and name of the person in the first line, followed by their military unit number in the second line.

Government Office Address

Write the name of the organization or the department before the street address or PO box number in the residential address.

Address for Multiple Recipients

If you are sending mail to multiple people in the same household or business, write each name in a separate line for the residential address.

Address for Courier Services

If you are using a courier service like FedEx or DHL to send the mail, write the contact details of the person in the last line. This will help the service provider ensure accurate delivery as they can contact the recipient for directions to their address.
