Philippines Address Format With Examples

The Philippines, a vibrant Southeast Asian nation, is known for its sprawling archipelago of over 7,000 islands, each with its own unique culture and charm. From bustling urban centers like Manila and Cebu to serene rural landscapes, addressing mail accurately in the Philippines requires understanding its specific postal structure.

Whether you’re sending mail to a bustling city or a remote barangay, adhering to the correct format ensures timely and accurate delivery. This guide provides a detailed breakdown of Philippine address formatting for residential, business, and international mail, along with tips for navigating unique regional addressing quirks.

Philippines Address Format Breakdown

Recipient Name

Always write the recipient’s full name on the first line. If sending to a business, include the company name first, followed by the recipient’s name or department.

Example

JOHN SANTOS

Or

XYZ CORPORATION

ATTN: JOHN SANTOS

Street Address or PO Box (P.O. Box)

Include the house or building number, followed by the street name. If the recipient relies on a Post Office Box, mention “P.O. Box” followed by the box number.

Example

123 LOPEZ STREET
Or

P.O. Box 457

Barangay/Subdivision, City/Municipality, and Province

The Philippines often uses barangays (small administrative units) for additional clarity. Add the barangay name and the subdivision name if the address includes one. You also need to add the city or municipality, and the province if applicable.

EXAMPLE

BARANGAY KAPITAN KILYONG, QUEZON CITY

Or

BARANGAY MALAYA, CEBU CITY

Postal Code

Philippines relies on a four-digit postal code system. These codes are specific to each municipality or region. Use the correct code to ensure timely delivery.

Example

QUEZON CITY 1101

Or

CEBU CITY 6000

Country Name

Write the country name in the last line. If you are sending international mail, always write the country name in capital letters.

Example

PHILIPPINES

Special Considerations to Write a FILIPINO Address

  • Address Placement: Write the address in the center of the envelope.
  • Address Line Alignment: The address lines should be left aligned.
  • Language: Filipino and English are the official languages of the Philippines, but every address must be written in English for both domestic and international mail.
  • Rural Addressing: Street names are less common in rural areas. It is recommended to use village names near larger towns to ensure successful deliveries.
  • Barangay Inclusion: For rural or hard-to-reach locations, include landmarks, barangays, or even descriptive directions.
  • Capitalization: For clarity and legibility write the whole address in the capital letter.

Address Format for Courier Services

When using courier services like LBC, JRS Express, DHL, or FedEx to send packages within or to the Philippines, include additional details like contact numbers for seamless delivery. This is especially helpful for areas that are difficult to locate or have incomplete street markings.

The Philippine Postal Corporation, commonly known as “PHLPost”, is the primary government agency overseeing postal services in the Philippines. Established in 1992 to replace the Bureau of Posts, it has a legacy that dates back to 1767, when postal services began under Spanish colonial rule.

PHLPost operates a network of over 1,300 post offices nationwide, covering all 81 provinces, 17 regions, and more than 1,600 cities and municipalities. It provides both domestic and international mail services, ranging from standard letters to parcel delivery, as well as specialized offerings like express mail and money remittance services. PostGrid’s Address Verification Solution

So you have learned how to structure the address format to a recipient in the Philippines. But to ensure your address is reaching the intended recipient, you need a verified address. Our Customers Say It Best

We have been using PostGrid for a few months. It works with our CRM, the software interface, efficiency, automation, and integration with no issues. Their support team is quick with resolution and their web portal is easy to access and transparent in retrieving transactions and analyzing weekly & monthly sending limits.

Chief Technology Officer

This API has turned out to be a great asset. We started off with 4000 mailings for 3 months and never had any downtime. I requested an increase in the sending limits and it was given to me in 10 minutes! I also have used PostGrid to verify our mailing lists. It’s been great to us and customer support is very reliable.

Vice President Of Engineering

We wanted a low-cost, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-use direct mail platform. Finally, PostGrid took all my worries in terms of snail mail. The pricing is very reasonable! There is almost no delay in the SLA’s commitment, and it is exciting to watch automation in action. Easy to build and maintain the mailing lists of our patients. Not to forget, reports can be generated, and a block editor can be used too!

Director Of Operations

We were looking for a solution to outsource and automate our process of mailing welcome letters to our customers. Previously had 2 dedicated people printing the postage label, stamping it manually and stuffing the mail and dropping it off at the postal office. It was very inefficient and could have caused major compliance issues. PostGrid helped us eliminate the entire manual process with their automation and API solution, now sending all mails smoothly.

Director of IT and Operations

Very straightforward, fast, and reliable address standardization API. We collect address data from multiple patients, clinical records, and providers and attempt to combine them into one. Addresses are often redundant or formatted differently in this process, which is our biggest challenge. PostGrid makes it easy for us to solve both of these problems simply by appending PostGrid to our datasets.
