Croatia Address Format With Examples
Croatia is located in the southeastern part of Europe. It was once a republic under the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia but later became a part of the European Union. The diversity in the culture can be seen in how people communicate with each other when sending and receiving mail. Different regions give preference to different address components.
Moreover, there are different types of addresses and each has its specific requirements. Take, for instance, the street address is important in a residential address but it is replaced with a PO box number in a military address. If you want to send mail to a client or customer in Croatia but don’t know the format, we have got you covered. We bring to you different types of address formats with examples.
Croatia Address Format Breakdown
Recipient Name
Write the recipient’s full name. You can add appropriate titles like Gospodin for Mr., Gospođice for Ms., and Gospođa for Mrs. If the mail is for a business, write the company’s name in the first line, followed by the recipient’s name and their department in the second and third line. To ensure that the internal distribution sends the mail to the right office and desk, write ATTN. in front of the recipient’s name.
Example:
ANA JORVOT
Or
ADF D.O.O
ATTN: ANA JORVOT
FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Street Address
Write the street name and house/building number. Add “Ulica (Croatian word for street)” in front of the street name. If the recipient has a PO box, write “P.P.” (Poštanski Pretinac means post office box number in Croatian language) and then the box number.
Example:
ULICA VUKOVARSKA 34
Or
PP 56
Postal Code and City
Postal codes are called poštanski brojevi in Croatia and they are five-digit numbers. In a Croatian address format, a postal code and city are placed on the same line. Some of the major cities in Croatia are Split, Zagreb, Zadar, and Pula. If you are sending international mail to Croatia, write the ISO alpha 2 country code before the postal code. Add a dash between the country code and postal code.
Example:
HR- 29384 ZAGREB
Country Name
Write the country name in the last line. If you are sending international mail to Croatia, write the country name in capital letters.
Example:
CROATIA
Special Considerations to Write a Croatian Address
- Capitalization: Write the address in capital letters as this helps the postal service providers and the machine easily scan the elements.
- Address Line Alignment: Ensure that all the address lines are aligned to the left.
- Punctuations: Do not add punctuation anywhere, even if two address elements share the same line. Take, for instance, there will be no punctuation between postal code and city in a Croatia address format.
